Geo-Environmental Engineer

£25,000 - £32,000 a year

Gavin Griffiths Contracting Ltd is expanding its material management and assessment division and is recruiting for a Geo-Environmental Engineer to manage and operate its rapid response environental testing service. This is an exciting opportunity for a graduate or junior engineer to join our ever expanding team.


Responsibilities:

  • Undertake site assessments utilising our QED and XRF analysers (working away from home and night working may be required).

  • Logging of soil and rock in accordance with BS5930:2015.

  • Undertake soil and water sampling.

  • Managing site works, including pricing of works, dealing with suppliers and preparation of health and safety documentation.

  • Review of site investigation data.

  • Factual reporting, data processing.

  • Production of Hazwaste Online reports, including the classification of waste materials.

  • Assisting senior staff with project related duties.

  • Oversee department equipment - allocation, hire, servicing and repairs.

  • Travel and attend internal and external meetings as required.

  • Adhere to working instructions as specified from internal and external clients.

  • Conduct internal paperwork as required.

  • Communicate with internal and external parties.


Qualifications/Experience:

  • BSc in an Earth Science related degree.

  • Excellent communication and report writing skills.

  • Willingness to research and keep up to date with current contamination topics & legislation.

  • Ideally knowledge of asbestos regulations and associated testing and risk assessment

  • Experience in production of health and safety documentation.

  • The post holder will be expected to attend and pass internal and industry recognised external training courses. These may include, PTS, NRASWA, CCNSG, towing license, CAT, First Aid and manual handling training.

  • Maintenance of ground investigation equipment.

  • UK Driving License.
